We know that we, non-binary people, are often denied hormone treatment or surgery by the Trans People’s Care Units (UATP) in Andalusia simply because we are non-binary. As we are aware of this, we unfortunately have to advise non-binary people who wish to start hormone treatment to present as a trans man or a trans woman when they have an appointment with the UATP. This cannot go on.
This practice is illegal. Under the Andalusian Trans Law, we have the right to personalised treatment, just like any other trans person. We cannot be denied treatment simply because we are non-binary.
We want to hear from you if you have been denied treatment because you are non-binary. Healthcare for trans people, including non-binary people, is a right. If you have been denied treatment because you are non-binary, your rights have been violated.
We would also like to hear from you if you have pretended to be a trans man or a trans woman in order to receive the treatment you want.
We would also like to hear from you if you have been denied a mastectomy because you are not taking testosterone. There is no medical reason to require testosterone treatment prior to a mastectomy.
We want to collect testimonies and data so that we can campaign for the recognition of our right to care at Trans People’s Care Units that respects our gender identity. We’re fed up with having to lie! We’re fed up with our gender identity not being respected!
We exist, we resist!
